Largest Donation Ever Made to Cincinnati Children’s Will Improve Mental Health Facilities and Programs

A lead philanthropic gift of $36 million from the Convalescent Hospital Fund for Children will fuel work to build a new inpatient facility at our College Hill Campus. Matching philanthropic support of $36 million is being sought from our community to make the new five-story building a reality and expand services.

“Since inception, the mission and focus of Convalescent Hospital Fund for Children has been that all families with children struggling with long-term chronic illnesses and the challenges of mental health have access to the very best in medical care available,” says Susan Shelton, president of Convalescent Hospital Fund for Children. “These children and their families have become our particular focus and passion because too often they have no place to turn for the understanding, help and support so desperately needed.”

The Convalescent Hospital Fund for Children’s commitment to our work has transformed the way we’re able to care for kids struggling with mental and behavioral health issues.

This longstanding partner, established in 1832, has provided ongoing support for the medical center since 1977, helping children who need long-term chronic care for congenital and traumatic brain injury, developmental challenges and mental health challenges. In 2002, they gave a $9 million gift to help us establish our College Hill Campus, and in 2014 they gave $11 million for the tower expansion at College Hill.

And once again, they’re answering the call of the families who need this specialized care.

The Convalescent Hospital Fund for Children is challenging our community to join them in supporting this important work.  Please consider making a donation to help us match their groundbreaking investment in addressing the mental health crisis.
